Ask WALAO
Ask about selected group history, then inspect the sources behind every returned claim.
What Ask searches today
Ask retrieves matching raw messages that are still inside your retention window and stored summaries from enabled groups. It ranks up to 12 matching sources before asking the model to answer.
Its boundary text says answers use summaries and memories only. The backend actually uses raw messages and summaries, and does not retrieve confirmed memories.
Ask focused questions
Use names, projects, dates, or distinctive phrases that are likely to appear in the source material.

Search currently uses English full-text tokenisation. Chinese and Malay questions or messages can produce weak retrieval even though summaries support those languages.
How an answer is built
- Retrieve
WALAO searches only rows owned by your account and linked to enabled groups.
- Rank
The closest text matches are limited before the model call.
- Answer
Anthropic Claude receives your question and the retrieved source text with no tools attached.
- Validate
Any claim without at least one ID from the retrieved source set is dropped.
- Show sources
Supported claims render with the citations returned by the validated response.
When WALAO says I don't know
An I don't know response can mean there was no matching stored text, the relevant raw message expired, the group is disabled, search tokenisation missed it, or the model returned no valid cited claim.
Rephrase with a distinctive name or term. If the matter is important, check WhatsApp directly.
Review every important answer
- Open each source attached to a high-stakes claim.
- Confirm that the source actually supports the wording, not only a related topic.
- Check whether newer messages changed the decision.
- Do not use Ask as the sole basis for payments, legal duties, staff action, or safety decisions.
