Connection
Connect WhatsApp
Pair through linked devices, then verify the connection before you enable any group.
Understand the risk first
WALAO connects through an unofficial gateway, not an official WhatsApp Business API integration. This may breach WhatsApp terms and may lead to suspension of the paired account.
Use a spare number. Do not use the number that receives customer orders, payment messages, emergency requests, or account recovery codes.
Pair the number
- Open Connection
Sign in to WALAO and go to the Connection page.
- Read and accept the disclosure
The Show pairing code button stays disabled until you confirm the beta risk.
- Generate the QR code
Select Show pairing code. WALAO requests a new gateway session and displays its pairing code as a QR image.
- Open WhatsApp linked devices
On the spare phone, open WhatsApp settings, choose Linked devices, and scan the QR code.
- Wait for connected
The page polls for status while pairing. Once connected, WALAO loads group metadata and identifies the paired account when the gateway provides it.
Connection states
| State | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | A pairing session exists but WhatsApp has not confirmed it. | Scan the current QR code or start a new pairing attempt. |
| Connected | The gateway reports an active session. | Continue to Groups and review the discovered entries. |
| Disconnected | WALAO has marked the session unavailable. | Remove the linked device in WhatsApp, then pair again if needed. |
| Re-pair required | An idle or invalid session must be replaced. | Pair again. Previous group choices are designed to carry to the live session. |
Disconnect safely
The current Disconnect button changes WALAO's local session status, but it does not reliably terminate or delete the upstream gateway session.
- Pause processing in Settings
This makes WALAO drop new incoming events and stops summarisation while paused.
- Select Disconnect in WALAO
This records the local connection as disconnected and opens a coverage gap.
- Revoke the linked device in WhatsApp
On the phone, open Linked devices and log out the WALAO session. This is the essential final step in the current beta.
A later gateway status event can report the session as connected again. Revoke the linked device from WhatsApp itself.
Coverage gaps
Disconnects, pauses, and system halts create coverage gaps. If a summary window overlaps one, WALAO marks the result incomplete instead of silently presenting partial coverage as complete.
